You have been wanting to buy five nice toys for Christmas and for your birthday. You’ve been working hard. You clearly deserve them. Everyday, you have been on the same online store and you are just a click away from checking out that cart. The desire keeps growing every day until you become numb looking at your shopping cart, so numb that you started to ask yourself, “why don’t I just buy this instead?”

Kidding aside, I might consider this though.

Mikee had no class today. The teacher had to attend a family gathering and will just hold an extra class to cover for it. The little girl is taking a nap now while hubby is busy playing NBA Live and me, well, you guess it right. I had been blogging and blog hopping. I peeked at how the stocks are doing and checked Forex. I should study how futures trading works too. And of course, I checked again if items on my wishlist have been marked down. Yes, I’ve been checking everyday. Pathetic huh?

I have this annoying pimple in the middle of my forehead. From afar, it looks I’m one of women from India. I think I need to put on some Triclear on this.

Speaking of women from India, do you remember Sushmita Sen? She’s a Miss Universe title holder (can’t remember what year) who intelligently answered and explained the essence of a woman.

“Just being a woman is God’s gift. The origin of a child is a mother, a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring, and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman.”

After that, she made a history. I grew up watching Miss Universe every year and I must say, her answer is the best that I heard so far.

That’s what I call beauty and brains.

When I was younger, many times I was asked “why don’t you join show business?” No, I’m not a good singer nor they have seen me act. So I suppose they just found me pretty. Ahem! Like I said, that was when I was younger. I do not wonder why nobody asks me this question anymore. (Translation: I was cute. When you’re older, cute means you’re stout or something like it. Not showbiz material.)

Many aspire to join show business. Why not? You’re going to get famous. You’ll be able to afford a lavish lifestyle, get home theater seating at your own home and have the best wardrobe for free. In short, you get paid for being famous.

So why did I not join show business? I have few reasons of my own.

• My nose is big. I’m not kidding. Ok, ok, Simply put, it’s because I may sometimes be photogenic but never telegenic. (Naks, feeling maganda pa din ano?)
• I’m a private person. Unlike other people, I don’t like to be famous. Well, maybe but not the type that people would like to know who you’re dating.
• I want real friends. Being famous is like being rich. You don’t know if people who want to be friends with you have other motive.
• Last but not the least, my father would hate me if I do. My father has an aunt and 2 cousins (one actor and one director who is married to a talent scout) in show business. And he always reminded us how “filthy” show business is.

This is the reason why I don’t want to start shopping online. Because it is so addicting! At first, I was only thinking of buying clothes, books and toys for Mikee. Then, I thought why not buy for the husband too? Then the list started getting longer. I now want 5 toys for myself. Not only that, I found myself browsing for paper scrapbook kits, and would want to buy not only the kits but the tools too. U-oh! I better get in control. Or I’d have to get one of those fast cash payday loans. Somebody stop me! On the other hand, maybe I’ll just let myself get out of control because I’m enjoying every minute of it. Forget the scrapbooks, I’m getting my toys.

I noticed there are now houses with Christmas lights, and Christmas decors are being sold everywhere. Just yesterday, I checked out BookSale and Christmas story books occupied the first shelf you’d see upon entering. Well, it’s less than three months till Christmas, and I know you’d want to start shopping now too to avoid the holiday rush.

I started to do mine last week, and I’m hoping I can cross more items off my list this month. Hmm, I’m thinking, should I get a cash advance just to avoid the crowd? Or I could just wait for the Christmas bonus and mall sales but will have to brave the mad crowd.

This one I had to choose 10 minutes before the sale ends. Imagine I had to find a nice toy that Mikee will like but should be very affordable (or else, it would defy my purpose of waiting for a sale) in just a matter of minutes. I must admit, it gave me such an adrenaline rush.

See, I told you I still can control myself. I still browse for insurance quotes and check how the stocks are doing more than I do window-shopping. Oh well, the boxes are now full, I guess I have to wait till next year to buy my toys.

It’s a national holiday today so I sort of just take a peek of my cyber world for just few minutes. Mikee and I took our 3-hour afternoon nap. It feels good to have uninterrupted rest in the middle of the day.

I must admit I took a peek at my work too. I know, I know, this is bad for my work-life balance. But I promise myself I’ll sleep early tonight.

Anyway, Mikee has this bulky Graco stroller and I find it quite awkward for Mikee now. We stopped using it months ago. So I browsed for umbrollers online and found this:

I also browsed for possible Christmas gifts for our friends and families. I saw nice pet beds, and some sweet-looking gift packs and affordable toys for the little kids. And let’s not forget the Christmas gifts (yes, with an ‘s’) I’m getting for myself.
