eye charts

As a young kid, I’ve always been fascinated with eye charts. I thought it was a game that the doctor wanted me to play to distract me from something painful like an injection. I have an aunt who posted an eye chart in her room. I think that’s where I developed the fascination. According to her, she wanted to check her eyesight often. Good thing one of her sons grew up to be an ophthalmologist to check on her.

Another thing that amazes me is the Ishihara Color Blindness Test. In fact, as early as now, my daughter’s pediatrician tested her with this. We were just wondering if she inherited her grandfather’s color blindness and since she can now recognize letters, numbers and shapes, the pedia recommended it. Oh, she aced it. :)

buzzer beater

I have been riding cabs when going home from the office. I wasn’t able to sign up for the late night shuttle last time. So I have been waiting for the next one and wanted to make sure I don’t miss it this time. Usually, you can no longer submit schedule beyond 4pm on the day of deadline.

And today, I saw the email at 5pm!!! It was sent beyond 11pm last night! Such short notice. Gosh! Good thing, I still tried because I was able to get through. Wee! Got a ride next month!

I wouldn’t want to miss the shuttle. TWS is such a far place to take a cab going home. :P

sent home today

Today, we were told to go home because of the typhoon. It isn’t raining yet in my part of the Metro but it was last night. Honestly, in my opinion, we should have the option to work from home till the H1N1 virus eventually dies down. For one, it would save the company money. And of course, the employees wouldn’t be too scared of getting the virus when going to the office. Well, yes, I am.

I am afraid I could bring it home and infect anybody in the house. Good thing though that our floor is *clean* but of course you wouldn’t be too sure.

Still, I am a confident because I’ve been taking multivitamins and Vit C, and had been washing my hands with soap and water, or disinfecting with alcohol often when I’m in the office. Funny, my hubby and I had this habit of checking our temperatures when we’re home every like 2 hours. I’m not sure if he’s worried or he’s having fun using the Braun.

fashion jewelry

Like the perfect pair of shoes and perfect purse, one way to enhance an outfit is to have the perfect jewelry to match. A nice tricolor ring or an eye-catching bangle bracelet could be just the perfect enhancement to a rather simple cut dress.

Fashionable jewelry need not be expensive. Check the discount costume jewelry at Holsted Jewelers. You can shop by category or by occasion. Of course, you’ll save so much on their total looks sets. I saw a bracelet, earrings and pendant set that could save me as much as $35. You can also enjoy free shipping for orders over $85. Now that’s fashion that’s easy on the pocket.

rainboots

It’s raining again, quite expectedly. It’s the time of the year in this side of earth. I remember as a child I hated it so much that my socks and shoes got wet on the first day of school. The school bus was not allowed to park inside the school. It would have helped ensuring the kids stayed dry.

Now, I’m worried about our little girl. I still couldn’t drive and there’s no one to drive for us. So I’m thinking of buying her a raincoat and a pair of boots.

I’m thinking matching Plueys for me and BG.
It would definitely look cute on BG but on me, not sure. Hehehe.

ETA: No matching boots. But I like this for BG. :D

my passion

I was told that if you want to be able to come up with an amazing photo, you may try taking pictures of something you are passionate about. So what is it that I am passionate about? I am honestly not sure because I originally thought I am passionate about taking pictures.

So I asked around. The answers varied from blogging to dancing. Not quite. Yes I like blogging but not passionate enough about it. I’m no writer at all. I usually type whatever comes to mind. No plan nor structure at all. I love dancing but it’s been years since I have performed in front of an audience.

But then, I checked previous photos that I took. I noticed I like taking pictures of people close to me doing something and not looking at the camera. And two people I’m definitely passionate about is the husband and the daughter. So there, I answered my own question.

the perfect beach wedding

We’re now 6 months away from our 5th wedding anniversary. We were thinking of celebrating it out of town. I wonder how we would celebrate it on our 10th, 25th and 50th. If budget would allow, it would be nice to get married again in another town or another country. I would love to have like one of those destination weddings that I see on lifestyle and glamour channels on cable.

We had a church wedding and a reception party at a garden. I would like to have a beach wedding maybe on our 10th anniversary. I heard so much about the wonderful resorts and beaches in Mexico. And Karisma hotels and resorts are known for its great service. The place is so romantic. I’m telling the husband.

i miss dancing

I think I am already in my 30s (or maybe late 20s) when I discovered that I love chips. No, not chocolate chips, but the junk food chips. Some of my favorites are Doritos, Lays, V-cut and Taquitos. Pair it with home-made salsa or Lay’s Jalapeno cheese dip, and it would be like heaven.

Worse, I’ll always gulped them down with Coke (or Sprite) after. I’m so glad my parents do not read my blogs.

But honestly, I know I should stop. I know it isn’t healthy anymore. I’m too old to be careless. There are so many reasons for my weight gain, and I know eating chips is one of them. I have been thinking what diet pill to take. I’ve read some good nuphedra reviews. Or I probably should go back to dancing to shed this off. I’d like to dance again. I sort of miss the adrenaline rush.

I wonder what my husband has to say if he sees me dancing to a Lady Gaga, Pussycat dolls or Craig David song. His jaw might just drop. KIDDING! ;)

accessories fanatic

Someone commented that I love wearing bangles. Yes I do but I don’t consider it on my basic list. I usually start with a watch, my wedding ring and a pair of earrings. If I feel like dressing up, I either choose another among my rings or wear a bangle. I’ll be honest. If I can afford it, I’ll collect pieces of jewelry instead that would match outfits and moods. Unlike the bangles that I collect, the pieces of jewelry would be investments, right? Yeah, excuses.

saved some

Bag sales are aplenty these days. The reason I didn’t buy any of the custom tote bags that Glo or Faye are selling was I am trying to save up some for a point and shoot camera. I mean if I have extra, I would.

I was eyeing a Panasonic Lumix model, but not the famous LX3. Then this afternoon, I suddenly thought why not just borrow my sister’s LX3? She borrowed my Sony M1 now in the US. So why not take my turn come October?

I asked her. Well, of course, she agreed! In fact, she offered me her Diana (lomo) as well! Coolness huh? :D

I miss the smell of babies

Today, we visited our team mate who just gave birth. It made me miss holding a newborn. I remember when our daughter was just a little baby, sleeping soundly in her Bob stroller while hubby and I leisurely wander around the mall. I sort of miss the smell of a newborn too.

But later tonight, after doing some accounting of the family monthly expenses, I suddenly changed my mind. I realized that I do not miss holding a newborn at all!

I guess I’ll just have to wait for my sister or sister-in-law to have theirs. I’m sure after just a week of sleepless nights, the new mom would gladly allow me to hold her baby for her. ;)

my gift

Your Gift is Imagination

You are constantly dreaming. You are always thinking about what could be.
You love to express yourself in many ways. You have a way with words and tell vivid stories.

You love to be amused. You are good entertaining yourself, and other people find you hilarious.
You’re the type of person who finds staying happy easy. There’s always fun to be had!

Happy with the results. Just perfect for my hobbies. Don’t you agree. :P

Gucci sale vs. p&s digicam

I have been looking for Gucci bags on sale. I want to buy one, at least this year. But when I learned of the ongoing sale, I couldn’t decide if I should part with my budget for a point-and-shoot digicam.

Someone actually told me she was shocked how low the prices of the bags have become. According to her, it would be wise to grab the chance. She couldn’t quite understand why I can’t simply choose the bag over the digicam when I already own a DSLR.

I don’t know! I guess it’s called passion. :P

in the mood

It’s my first day to be nanny-less today, and still 8 more days to go. Luckily, my manager and team lead agreed that I can work from home this week.

Since it’s a Monday plus first working day of the month, even as much as I’d like to juggle between cleaning some light fixtures and working on my laptop, I have no choice but to concentrate on my work. Good thing, BG is now big enough to play on her own.

Still, I can’t help but stop working to take her picture when I told her to pose and she did. I ran back to our room to get my camera. She did the pose several times knowing I’m taking pictures. Finally! :)

This was a spur of the moment thing which explains her messy hair.
I taught her to look at her upper left to look like she’s thinking of a good lie.
