one step at a time

I’ve been trying to shed off the extra pounds. I don’t expect a miracle but I wish my face and arms would look as thin as 5 years ago. I’m still thinking if I should start taking weight loss pills. Today, during brunch, I lessened my rice intake. And around 3pm, I was craving for something to pair up with coffee. I am no fan of sweets whenever I’m hungry, but this afternoon was an exception. I had a sweet chocolate laced doughnuts and one sweet coffee. Tsk tsk.

Good thing though that when dinnertime came, I had lost appetite and just chose to eat a fruit basket. Now, that’s what I call progress. :D

difficult lighting

While shopping around Hong Kong, I saw some interesting items like an old Mickey Mouse (as in the black and white version Mickey Mouse) luggage, or a Toy Story themed car seats and other auto accessories. It seems that Disney merchandise are not only available inside Disneyland but around Hong Kong.

Anyway, while we were in Disneyland, I had difficulty with my camera settings, because it was either gloomy or too sunny.

We had the mistake of standing in a place where we watch the parade against the sunlight. So either the photos are up front but washed out.

Or I wait for the subject to pass me by for the perfect lighting. Like this one, all I see is its behind.

Typhoon No. 8!

Last Monday, we flew to Hongkong even if we knew the weather was bad. We booked the flights two months earlier because of a promo. I must say, the first two days were a bit wasted spent inside our hotel rooms. Believe it or not, it was Typhoon No. 8!!!

At first, we couldn’t believe it. I thought a sign was mistyped. I first thought it was supposed to be 3 not 8 but after receiving a notification from the hotel warning us that it wasn’t safe to go out of the hotel premises, our hearts sank. It felt like a house arrest.

Odd that it wasn’t raining much, but instead, the winds were heavy. We were told that it is often that flying debris hit the building windows and hurt people inside their rooms. I wondered if it’s easy to sue once that happens. For I know, like in Tennessee, there are many competent Tennessee injury lawyers.

Anyway, good thing that we brought food so we were able to survive dinner and breakfast without leaving our rooms. I guess the first two days served as our rest for the grueling shopping walkathon the following two days. :D

Halloween… Disney-style

Disney has begun their Halloween! So if you’re a big fan of Disney, especially of Jack Skellington (the main character of Nightmare before Christmas), you will surely enjoy the decorations, the goodies hidden across the park (for an ongoing contest) and Jack Skellington stuff you could buy on the souvenir shops. I myself couldn’t wait to get my hands on Jack Skellington keychains of different sizes. Talk about addiction.

Among the Haunted Halloween rides is the Space Mountain transformed into a hauntingly eerie Ghost Galaxy. Cool huh?

So as early as now, buy your Disney World Tickets, to make sure you don’t miss this once a year Disney Halloween treat!

my wishlist

As early as now, I received emails reminding me of upcoming Christmas parties with friends. It’s the time of the year again when you’re entitled to post your wish list on your blogs.

The husband will probably assume I want online backup for my photos. But I have other things in mind. I still haven’t decided the precise details but this list is more or less what I want for Christmas.

- Body Shop cranberry flavored anything. :P
- blouse/s from our favorite online shop. *wink* *wink*
- ELF get-the-look (summer, and radiant bride)

Wow! This is exciting. :D

favorite subject

My mom, who had been observing me every time we meet them for dinner, once asked me why I take pictures of lamps and ceiling fans. She’s probably wondering what relevance I find in inanimate objects. I could not give a good answer. All I know is I like to.

Not to mention, they are much more “behave” and manageable than people as subjects.

Photographers with toddlers will definitely agree.

alternative band photo op

Two of our friends will be celebrating their kids’ birthdays on the 12th. And another one later that night and on the 13th. Yes, we are so booked that weekend. Not to mention, I will be flying to Hong Kong on the 14th. :P

I had to cancel on joining the pictorial of my brother’s band. We haven’t finalized our decision yet as to where we’d do the pictorial. I’m imagining them with an urban setting, but I was told it would give an impression of an English band, which they are not. Or maybe, glass tiles as their background which again, may be off because it would give an impression of a band doing ballad. Hmm… Well, I’ll just leave that part of decision making to the main photographers. ;)
